DID YOU KNOW the FISKER KARMA was designed by Henrik Fisker, who also designed the BMW Z8 and the Aston Martin DB9. Pretty sexy cars right? The Karma was designed here in California and was manufactured in Finland. The EPA fuel economy rating for the Karma was 52MPG when in all electric mode, 20MPG when in gasoline only mode. This gives them the "official" range of 32 Miles in all electric mode. These vehicles first hit the market in late July 2011 and retail customers started to receive them in November 2011. Pricing for Base model, EcoStandard started at $106K. The Intermediate EcoSport started at $110K, and the Premium EcoChic (Animal Free) started at $116K. Production only lasted 1 year when the battery supplier A123 Systems, went Bankrupt after 2 battery recalls. When your sole battery supplier goes belly up when you are producing an electric vehicle, that does not end well. Thus, Fisker Automotive followed suit. Fast forward to 2017, Henrik Fisker is making another run, with no doubt, a more stable battery company and design at the helm, the Fisker E-motion is on the horizon. Scheduled to launch some time in 2019.
